Laser shows at festivals - the festival season is hot!

Mud, drunken people, tents, dirt, smell, long-haired guys and short skirt - festival season is upcoming!
A festival is the perfect place for implementing spectacular live laser show performances. However, only few organizers already rely on such extraordinary effects. Of course more and more festivals now use lasers as central special effect, however there are many that still don't. Why? Maybe the organizers have never experienced it before or even don't know of the possibilities.
Lasers shows perfectly fit metal music, hip hop, electronic beats etc. - any kind of music can be accompaigned with lasers. It's just a matter of professional laser operation.
Laser shows for festivals became more and more affordable over the past years - so it's just a matter of finding a professional laser show company for implementing a spectacular laser show at the festival.

Is a laser show better than fireworks?

That depends of course - especially on the spectators. But of course: if you can have both, it's the best solution you can have :-) The smoke from the pyrotechnical effects helps make the beams of the laser show even better visible!

in fact, fireworks are well know, everybiody has seen them and they are a common solution at many festivities. However, fireworks may become boring if seen too often.  sometimes people like to become surprised, to experience the unexpected. So adding lasers to a fireworks show is a great idea.
If an established, yearly fireworks show shall be substituted by a laser show, it is essential to find a super professional laser show company (e.g. look at Laserworld) to implement it. Small companies with only weak laser systems are very likely to mess up the show, as they cannot provide the visual impact tthe spectators are used to from the fireworks show.

So always remember to hire professional, experienced companies if it comes to important shows. Otherwise you, your customers and the spectators will be disappointed.

And yes, a laser show can be more spectacular than fireworks - if it's professionally done.

Laser shows in the United States

Doing laser shows in the United States is quite a challenge: Not only are there a lot of restrictions and legal uncertainties, but there is also a massive requirement on filling in paperwork prior to being allowed to do any show. This makes it hard to bring up a laser show at all. That's why it amkes perfect sense to rely on laser show professionals for doing laser show in the USA.

Laser show control - ILDA or Network/LAN?

The market for laser show control solutions is basically shared between the two protagonists Pangolin  and Phoenix Showcontroller - but wait: they both belong to Pangolin Systems since beginning of 2013, so both solution from one provider.
Ok, both software types offer more or less similar features but their handling is slightly different. Both software solutions offer hardware to convert the digital computer signal to the analogue ILDA signal (standard low-level transfer protocol for laser show control; runs over a 25 pin parallel cable). But there are two main types of solution:
The USB interface has a rather short USB cable to the interface (so called DAC - Digital Analogue Converter), and then runs a long ILDA cable to the laser show system.
the second option is to run a long network cable to the DAC (or a LAN switch to distribute the signal, and then on to the interface), and then a short ILDA cable from the Network interface to the laser, e.g. 1 m.

The Network interfaces are rather nwe solutions. As they use the TCP/IP protocoll, they are compatible with all normal CAT%/6 cables and normal switches - so the conmtrol signal distribution is extremely easy.
especially in situations where it's necessary to run long cables from the FoH (Front of House) to the stage it's extremely comfortable to use network signal transmission.

Laserworld released a brand new LAN interface for Phoenix LIVE, Phoenix PRO and Phoenix PRO+, that has great output quality and is very easy to handle.

Some colors are hard to do with show lasers in a laser show, but it is also a matter of laser show control if things work out or not. better rely on laser show professionals to do the high end jobs: Here you see a laser show demonstartion over a lake in bavaria (Germany) for a customer. A RTI NANO RYGCB 35 system was used to do these effects. The laser was operaterated by the laser show professionals from Laserworld.

Permanent Laser show installation on RAMA VIII Bridge in Bangkok

Laser Show installations in a larger scale are quite rare in Europe. usually only very small applications take place and especially fixed outdoor installations are extremely hard to find.
In Bangkok one of the very large bridges there, the RAMA VIII bridge, got a permanent illumination installation with different LED lighting and high power laser systems. The light show and laser show takes place every night and the story, that is told by light and laser is told in audio on the tourist ships that pass the bridge.
A laser show at such scale needs strong show laser light systems and a reliable outdoor laser concept - so the laser show can withstand heavy weather conditions, big temperature changes and high humidity environment.
To Incorporate all such features, the people in charge for the project decided to have their laser show installation done by the experts from laserworld and RTI, so the German engineers did the on site laser show installation and took care for the complex installation and show synchronization.

Ray Technologies updated their website ...

... and it really looks nice! Very streamline, not too much extras, just clean explanation of their show laser light systems. The explanations weren't that detailed in the past, but now the difference between the high power laser systems becomes more obvious. unfortunately it#s only in german at present, but it's very likely that the translation will follow soon.
They also released a climate housing (RTI Cocoon), which cools down laser projectors in high temperature areas - or heats it up in cold regions.

Laserworld CS-1000RGB, CS-1000RGB SE und CS-1000RGB 3D

Da gab es in den letzten Wochen einen ziemlichen Preisverfall. Wenn man sich die Preise bei den Großen wie Thomann, Conrad Electronic oder Prolighting ansieht (und die dazugehörigen Statistiken liest), müssen da so einige Geräte über den Tisch gehen.

Laser Display

It was in the 1970s that laser light shows first became popular, with many bands using a laser display as part of their show. Laser displays are now used at many concerts and musical events to enhance the experience for the audience. Laser light can be used to draw images on walls and other surfaces, and mirrors can also be used to bounce the beams and create laser sculptures.

As well as music concerts, laser displays are sometimes used in nightclubs, art displays and at various large events.

Laser systems can be very versatile and used in a variety of ways. Laser light can be used to create art on a large scale, illuminate large parts of a city for a special event, and it can also be used within acrobatic or circus performances.

Laser display equipment can be bought or rented for these purposes, or a service can be hired to arrange a laser display.

Laser light systems are available in several different colours, but one type that is particularly effective are the Rainbow Laser Projections. These can be used to create various different coloured rays and patterns, without the need to hire several different projectors to get a variety of colours.

Other equipment can be bought or hired to use with laser light, such as wind generators or fog machines. These can be used to great effect to enhance the visibility of the lasers. Pyrotechnics can also be used with a laser display, and these range from flame jet systems to outdoor fireworks.

As long as the laser systems are used correctly, they should be safe. There are laser regulations in place that must be followed in order to create a safe laser display. If the display is organised by a professional, they should have the necessary safety precautions in place.

Das Jahr neigt sich in großen Schritten dem Ende entgegen und für viele nähert sich somit unaufhaltsam die Party des Jahres: Sylvester. Einfach unbeschwert das Jahr hinter sich lassen und in das neue Jahr reinfeiern, das ist für sehr viele Menschen das Highlight schlechthin. Keine Sylvester Party wäre komplett ohne ausreichend Getränke und Musik. Für diejenigen, die solch eine Party organisieren bedeutet dieses in erster Linie eins: sehr viel Arbeit. Warum? Laser Light in Laser Shows

Wer eine Party plant, der kommt ohne die richtige Beleuchtung nicht aus. Daher ist es umso wichtiger, das es sich hierbei auch um gute Qualität handelt. Gerade wenn es um die Effektbeleuchtung geht, wissen viele nicht, was geht und vor allem wie. Doch wer sich jetzt für eine Laser Light Beleuchtung der besonderen Art interessiert, der braucht nicht gleich den Kopf in den Sand zu stecken, sondern sollte sich im Fachhandel informieren. Für jeden Geschmack gibt es das passende Stück und es müssen nicht immer die teuersten Laser sein, um einen guten Auftritt an den Tag zu legen. Lasertechnik kann oftmals sogar Feuerwerke in den Schatten stellen, oder mit ihnen einen einmalige Show bieten, die nicht vergessen wird. Der Interessent kann beim Laser zudem auch noch entscheiden, ob er einen Laser wünscht, der nur einfarbig ist, oder gleich mehrere Farben und damit Möglichkeiten bietet. Laser können auch von der Geschwindigkeit angepasst werden, oder schlichtweg zum Takt der Musik funktionieren.
